The Program Manager is responsible for meeting program/contract goals and the management of all project logistics specified in contracts signed by VWB Executives. The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring all project deliverables are met on time, on budget, and that volunteers engage in meaningful, high quality, and professionally satisfying work. The Program Manager must be a hands-on participant and works with the VWB Board, external partners and volunteers to develop workplans, recruit and hire team members, deliver services according to contracts and complete all reporting as required. Successful program managers have a comprehensive knowledge of program activities and an understanding of their impact on VWB’s strategic mission in order to direct complex and/or multiple programs. Experience as a senior veterinary medicine practitioner is critical to the ability to instruct veterinary health workers and professionals in diagnostic procedures and some treatment activities. Good organizational and communication skills are critical with sensitivity to local cultural and political environments. Flexibility and the ability to work long hours are a must. Uniquely qualified individuals without a DVM or VMD may be considered. Veterinary medicine project leaders provide leadership and mentoring to field veterinarians through hands-on clinical services and training in the field. A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, i.e., Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), obtained at a school or college of veterinary medicine accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education (AVMA) is required. A copy of your current, valid license to practice in the United States must be on file with VWB. Uniquely qualified individuals without a DVM or VMD may be considered. Field veterinarians teach and treat in the field. A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, i.e., Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), obtained at a school or college of veterinary medicine accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education (AVMA) is required.
